What is recruitment fraud?
Recruitment fraud is a sophisticated scam offering fictitious job opportunities. This type of fraud is normally perpetrated through online services such as bogus websites, or through unsolicited e-mails claiming to be from the company.
How can I identify recruitment fraud?
- There is an early request for personal information such as address details, date of birth, résumé, passport details and bank details etc.
- E-mail correspondence appears to be sent from an officer or senior executive of the Company, often the CEO, Board of Directors or Human Resources. If the email doesn’t end in “@iamgold.com”, it’s most likely phony.
- Frequently, mobile or platform telephone numbers beginning in +44(0)70 are used.
- There is an insistence of urgency.
What shouldn’t I do if I receive a fraudulent job offer?
- Do not respond to unsolicited offers of employment from people you are not familiar with, or were introduced to during the interview process.
- Do not disclose your personal or financial details to anyone you do not know.
- Do not send any money. IAMGOLD never asks for money transfers or payments from applicants to secure a job or visa to enter Canada or other countries IAMGOLD operates in.
- Do not engage in further communication if you believe the communications may be fraudulent.
