As part of our Talent DIG program, a group of interns
recently embarked on a tour to our Côté Gold mine in Northern Ontario,
gaining firsthand exposure to our operations and life-at-site culture. On August
6, the interns departed from Toronto with team members from Corporate
HR and headed north for an overnight stay at camp.
During the tour, the interns explored the control room, the mill, the
mine pit and the truck shop, and got an up-close look at our autonomous trucks
and Côté Gold’s modern
technology. The group also had the opportunity to talk with employees from
various departments across the site, discovering the wide range of career paths
that exist within the mining industry. These conversations offered valuable
insights into mine rotation programs, day-to-day responsibilities, and what
life is really like at camp—from shift rotation to community activities.
For many, this was a milestone moment: it marked their first time
stepping into a mining site. The experience was designed to be immersive,
offering not only operational insights but also opportunities for team
building and connection.

What they are saying
“I
was surprised by how passionate and knowledgeable the staff were. They were
really eager and willing to share their own experience with us. Everyone seemed
invested in their work and proud of the site. They also have a strong sense of
community showing through their meals and their activities after work,”
said Kathy Nguyen, Intern, Integrated Planning.
“What stood out the most was the coordinating
activities at the control room, monitoring operations at the pit and at the
plant, and recording data in real time. And how all of that allows for better
decision making,” said Brigitte Kabre, Intern, Project Development.
“The tour definitely shifted my perspective on mining.
This kind of experience is something we just can’t get in a classroom; it
brought everything we’ve been working on in the Toronto office to life in such
a real and tangible way. Seeing the operations up close, talking to the people
who work there, and actually walking through the site made it all feel more
meaningful and relevant,” said Grace Odunuga, Intern,
Internal Audit Risk Assistant.
