Our Essakane Mine in Burkina Faso is turning experience into opportunity with a new skills certification program to help employees convert their hands-on experience into official, nationally recognized qualifications.
Developed by the Human Resources team in collaboration with site leadership and Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training, the program targets technical trades like electricians, mechanics, carpenters, and kitchen staff.

The response? Overwhelming. More than 250 employees have enrolled, and 231 have already advanced to the final exam phase, scheduled for July and August 2025. Successful candidates will earn national certifications such as the Professional Qualification Certificate or the Professional Qualification Diploma.
For many, this is more than a diploma or a certificate, it’s recognition of years of dedication, learning, and growth on the job. This program is a powerful investment in our people, boosting employability, building confidence, and celebrating the talent that drives Essakane forward.
