Once again, this year, IAMGOLD is a proud Christmas Tree Sponsor for the “Trees of Joy ‑ Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada.”

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada works with communities across the country to provide children with critical illnesses the opportunity to realize their most heartfelt wish.  The organization’s annual “Trees of Joy” event pairs sponsors with a “wish” child to customize a special holiday tree just for them, bringing each child’s vision to life. Following the event, the trees are delivered to each family’s home for them to enjoy over the holidays. IAMGOLD has participated in the event as a Christmas Tree Sponsor for the last six years.

This year, employees from our Toronto office created a spectacular Toy Story, Mickey Mouse and Star Wars-themed Christmas tree for Malia, who we were so honoured to support this year. Our IAMGOLD elves had the best time decorating the tree and wrapping the presents for Malia! 

Meet Malia

This year we were very fortunate to sponsor Malia. Malia was diagnosed with a rare nervous system disorder at a young age. Nevertheless, Malia loves characters from her favourite movies and TV shows, including Mickey Mouse, Harry Potter, and Woody and Buzz from Toy Story. Her wish was to visit a theme park in Florida, which she did earlier this year. On this special trip, Malia rode the park’s rides and saw her favourite characters come to life.

This is a special event not only for families that are sponsored but also for the employees who participate.
