Our Essakane Mine in Burkina Faso is proud to be contributing to the construction of a new façade for the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM) in Ouagadougou.
As a higher education institution that primarily focuses on training civil servants, administrators and members of the judiciary, ENAM plays a crucial role in developing the workforce, and the necessary skills, to manage and administer the country's public sector.
Once completed, the project will include a main gatehouse, two secondary gatehouses, a fence wall, a stele and an esplanade for the higher education institution. As a key partner in this modernization project, Essakane’s contribution, just over 195 000 USD, accounts for over 50 per cent of the overall budget.
Construction commenced earlier this summer with the celebratory laying of the first stone for the foundation, with government officials and representatives from both ENAM and IAMGOLD in attendance.

With an expected completion date in the fall of 2024, in time for ENAM’s 65th anniversary celebration and the graduation of two classes, modernizing ENAM’s infrastructure represents a key project in an agreement that was signed between ENAM and IAMGOLD in late 2023.
Working co-operatively with our host communities, which includes aiming to contribute tangible benefits such as improving access to education, is a key aspect of our Zero Harm vision, an approach that guides all our operations at IAMGOLD.
