It is
never too late to learn about mining! Earlier this year, we were extremely
pleased to host a group of 20+ educators for an overnight tour of our Côté Gold
mine in Northern Ontario.

Organized
in partnership with the Canadian Ecology Centre, Mining Matters, the Ontario Mining Association and our team
on the ground, the tour provided the group of teachers an opportunity to learn
more about the advanced technologies used at Côté, our commitment to
responsible mining and the wide range of career opportunities that our mine and
our industry offer.
Among
the group was Joanne Sallay, the President & CEO of Teachers on Call, an
in-person and online tutoring organization for elementary and high school
students based in Toronto, Canada.

The
visit, led by Bryan Wilson, Côté Gold’s Vice President and General Manager,
gave Joanne the chance to scratch beyond the surface of misconceptions about
our industry, dig deep into the world of mining and uncover a world of
opportunities!
Joanne’s
immersive experience led to a blog and a video, which are a must-read and a
must-watch for anyone looking to help the next generation understand the
evolving world of mining and the incredible array of career opportunities that
comes with it.
By
providing these first-hand experiences, IAMGOLD remains committed to fostering
educational partnerships and nurturing the next generation of mining
professionals.

“Gold
is not just the 79th element on the periodic table. It’s actually a
whole industry branching off in 100+ careers involved in refining and
extracting this one element.”
