Earlier last month, IAMGOLD’s Côté Gold project officially unveiled its own bus terminal in the City of Timmins. The new facility, which started operating a few weeks ago, provides accessible transportation to and from the Côté Gold mine to hundreds of workers living in nearby communities.
The facility will also help expedite the screening process as workers will no longer have to pass through security at the security gate of the mine.

The terminal, which includes offices, a conference room and a spacious open space, will serve as an important community hub, helping bring communities together from between Sudbury and Timmins. Future development plans include an internet café, vending machines, artisanal markets and an IAMGOLD job information desk in the main space.
With an anticipated mine life of over 18 years, the Côté Gold mine is currently employing over 1,800 temporary workers and will have 540 permanent employees once it becomes fully operational in early 2024.
“Our mandate is to work with Sudbury, Timmins and Thunder Bay and make sure we’re working with the local mining communities. When fully operational, the Côté Gold mine is expected to employ 540 people, with about 200 on-site at all times”, Bryan Wilson, Vice President & General Manager for Côté Gold, said at the grand opening. “We’ve got the finish line in front of us; we are going to be pouring gold the first quarter of 2024”, added Wilson.
