IAMGOLD is proud to support Jill of All Trades, a multi-partner initiative that introduces girls in Grades 9 to 12 to the possibilities of a career in the trades and technologies through hands-on events hosted by a variety of local colleges across North America.  

Our Côté Gold team attended the recent Jill of All Trades event hosted by Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario, at the end of October. The day-long gathering, which was packed with hands-on learning and activities, was designed to foster a better understanding and appreciation for skilled trades in young female students and inspire them to consider a career in the sector. 

“It’s very important for IAMGOLD to participate in events such as these. By shining a light on the possibilities that exist in the trades for aspiring female students, we not only increase post-secondary enrolment  
and indirectly address Canada’s skilled trades shortage, but we also boost female student interest  
in non-traditional trades sectors such as the mining industry,” said Vanessa Potvin, Community Relations Coordinator, Côté Gold, IAMGOLD. 

Our Côté Gold team also had the privilege to award a $1,000 scholarship to Avery Barnes, a high school student from Manitoulin Secondary School. Way to go, Avery! Good luck as you pursue your education!
