Boosting our supply of qualified talent and increasing women’s participation at the same time
IAMGOLD is proud to sponsor two Chilean women miners to Canada through the Artemisa Sponsorship Program. While employed with our company, these top engineering graduates will gain valuable practical experience and get a chance to launch and advance their careers.
Details about the hiring:
- How many candidates do we hire? Two
- For how long? Permanently
- Training: Our recruits will take a “readiness” program for the next six weeks before they are placed at an IAMGOLD facility. They already have the requisite technical skills and knowledge of mining engineering but will have a chance to refresh other skills such as Canadian English, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership before they officially start their job with IAMGOLD.
- Benefit for candidates: Gain valuable practical experience, learn from our staff, share their expertise, contribute to IAMGOLD’s projects and get a chance to launch their careers!
- Benefit for IAMGOLD: Boost our supply of mining engineering talent. Increase women’s participation in our workforce and industry.

About the Artemisa Sponsorship Program
- Founded in 2021 by Heather Gamble, CEO of the Artemis Project, and Laura Mottola, who leads Artemis in South America.
- The Artemis Project is a Canada-based, international collective of 90 women-owned businesses in the mining supply chain.
- The Artemisa Sponsorship Program was initiated by Heather in 2021, upon realizing that more than 70 young women who were qualified candidates for professional mining-engineering jobs could not find employment in the sector in Chile. Now, almost half that number have expressed interest in pursuing careers in Canada or with mining companies that operate here.
