Earlier this spring, IAMGOLD’s Westwood mine in Quebec produced its one millionth ounce of gold—a clear marker of the effort, resilience and discipline behind its progress.

Located near Rouyn-Noranda, Westwood is an underground mine supported by approximately 1,000 employees and contractors. Across the site, teams continue to strengthen performance through a consistent focus on safety, disciplined execution and enhanced monitoring.

A strong contributor to IAMGOLD’s performance

For IAMGOLD’s Chief Operating Officer, Bruno Lemelin, the milestone highlights both Westwood’s contribution to the Company’s portfolio and the collective effort behind it.

“Westwood plays an important role in IAMGOLD’s performance and success, and this milestone speaks to the resilience, adaptability and expertise of its people,” said Bruno. “Across the site, from underground and mill operations to administration and support functions, this achievement reflects the collaboration, discipline and commitment that continue to strengthen Westwood’s performance.”

A milestone shaped by people and discipline

The achievement was marked in April, when employees gathered on site to recognize the effort behind the result and reflect on the mine’s evolution. The occasion also highlighted strong safety performance, including a full quarter without a recordable accident—an outcome shaped by the team’s shared focus on looking out for one another.

“Reaching the one-million-ounce mark comes at a time when Westwood is also delivering strong results in safety and health and meeting ambitious production targets,” said Luc Joncas, General Manager at Westwood. “This milestone reflects the remarkable work of our teams, and it was important for us to recognize it in a meaningful way.”
