IAMGOLD’s TSM EDI Protocol Announcement

IAMGOLD is committed to strengthening Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) through actions. We are looking forward to engaging with our internal and external partners for a collaborative approach to carry out The Mining Association of Canada (MAC)’s new Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) EDI Protocol, which seeks to compel transformation in the mining sector, ensuring inclusion and belonging for all those who work within it.


 

The EDI Protocol sets out requirements for mining companies such as IAMGOLD to develop and implement a corporate strategy that is complemented by site-level policies, processes, and performance to drive transparency and accountability, and improve EDI performance in the mining sector.

The EDI Protocol will measure mining companies’ performance in a number of areas, by: 

  • Engaging broadly within the workforce to develop a corporate strategy for EDI with a focus on training and internal performance objectives.
  • Integrating EDI throughout the mine site through new and revised processes and procedures like review of biases or barriers in traditional HR processes and analysis of inequities in worker compensation.
  • Involving workers in developing approaches to collect relevant data, measure and set performance objectives related to EDI.

The mining industry, like many other sectors, faces significant challenges related to EDI, such as gender disparity, lack of racial and ethnic diversity, Indigenous rights and inclusion, accessibility for people with disabilities (visible and invisible), and socioeconomic disparities. We are committed to addressing these issues and are eager to continue focusing our efforts towards this important work.
