IAMGOLD and Young Mining Professionals announce the winners of 2021 Côté Gold scholarships
We are pleased to announce that, after careful consideration, IAMGOLD and Young Mining Professionals (YMP) have selected the winners of this year’s two Côté Gold scholarships: Rim Fayjhi is the winner of the 2021 Côté Gold Woman in Mining, and Charles Meadows is the winner of the 2021 Côté Gold Indigenous Community. Congratulations to both!
Meet the winners:
Rim Fayjhi is a second year mining engineering student at McGill and is currently working as a mining engineering intern for Newmont Corporation at the Éléonore Gold mine in Quebec. Rim also completed a pre-university program in Natural Sciences from the CEGEP André-Laurendeau last year. The essay she submitted for the scholarship describing the challenges women face in the industry and her suggestions to overcome them, made her stand out from the crowd.

Charles Meadows is a Métis mining engineering student and is pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Queen’s University. Chas, as he likes to be called, is currently doing a technical internship as Dispatch Engineer Co-op Student for Teck Resources. He also has experience as Heavy Equipment Operation intern for Syncrude Canada. In his essay for the scholarship, he focused on his contribution to his community and it was truly inspiring.
