Zero Harm®

Zero Harm® is our commitment to continually strive to reach the highest standards in human health and safety, minimize our impact on the environment, and work co-operatively with our host communities. This is both a goal and a journey, and to help meet our commitments, we rely on partnerships with our host countries, host communities and, most importantly, with our employees.

Here’s how Zero Harm® is helping us achieve our vision of accountable mining:

  • The Rosebel Community Fund, which supports households in Surinamese communities with food supplies and personal protective equipment
  • Rosebel Mine’s Cultural Heritage Management Program (CHMP), to protect cultural heritage in every form within Rosebel Gold Mine's concession area, as much as possible.
  • Essakane Mine’s Solar Project in Burkina Faso (the world’s largest hybrid solar/thermal plant)
  • Côté Gold Project’s plan to use remotely operated and autonomous equipment, to ensure the health & safety of all stakeholders
  • Partnership with UNICEF Canada to support the ACT-A / COVAX Emergency Response, to accelerate the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in West & Central Africa

IAMGOLD has been recognized for its commitment to environment and sustainability. These initiatives have resulted in:

  • Being ranked 10th out of 116 global mining companies on the Corporate Knights magazine 2021 Global 100 Sustainability scorecard;
  • Being aligned with the World Gold Council’s Responsible Gold Mining Principles;
  • Receiving the highest score (GA-1) in Moody’s assessment of Corporate Governance for the Metals and Mining Sector;
  • Being included in the 2021 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index for the third consecutive year, which recognizes 380 global companies that foster a more inclusive and equitable workplace.

Wellness of our Employees

Part of IAMGOLD’s Zero Harm® strategy includes the wellness of employees and their families. As such, each site has initiatives in place to promote the participation in healthy habits on a daily basis, to attain better outcomes in all aspects of health.
